All prayer services will be broadcast live on social media. For those not tech savvy, Church leadership is also in talks with a local cable channel to broadcast the prayer services live on their channel for viewers as an additional option.

“I’ve always used social media to stay in touch with people by sharing Bible verses, but somewhere we thought that uploading would have a stronger emotional connection,” Fr said. Raymond Rumao, Mother of God Church, Palle (Vasai). He further confirmed that the live broadcast on YouTube and the cable channel would help those working overseas to actually watch their families and attend prayer services.

Parishioners welcomed the idea. Brian Noronha, Director of Bassein Catholic Bank, Vasai, said: “I still remember that about a decade and a half ago I traveled from Dubai to Vasai and returned the same day after attending our annual fair held on December 18th. Such a live broadcast of prayer services helps people working overseas to stay emotionally connected and never feel like they’ve missed something. ”

This parish is made up of 1230 families with around 5200 parishioners. Founded in 1585, the church is still called today by its original Portuguese name “Mae de Deus”.
