Alice Glass’ “FAIR GAME”: stream the new single



If you’ve shopped at American Apparel between 2008 and 2012, you’ll be delighted to hear that Alice Glass – formerly half of Crystal Castles – is set to release her long-awaited debut solo album, PREY // IV. Ahead of its January 28 release, the electro-pop musician shared another single from the record titled “FAIR GAME”.

Glass co-wrote the track with producer Jupiter Io, and it sounds a lot like music from the early Crystal Castles, especially 2011. (II). On “FAIR GAME”, Glass oscillates between angelic song and brutal cries on a gothic and glitch instrumental which reminds us that she was doing “hyperpop” long before the word exists.

“I’m so embarrassed for us / You ruined everything for us / Everyone’s laughing behind your back,” Glass whispers in the song. “Where would you be without me? We are not trying to point fingers, but consider Glass tweeted “Crystal Castles was. ALICE GLASS is “Just hours before letting go of” Fair Game “we’re inclined to believe she is referring to her former bandmate, with whom she had a disturbing fallout that caused her departure from Crystal Castles.

This year, Glass also shared the singles “BABY TEETH” and “SUFFER AND SWALLOW”, which are also slated to appear on PREY // IV.
