Today, June 23, Sega will host a Sonic Symphony Orchestra event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sonic the hedgehog. The first one Sonic the hedgehog game launched that day in 1991. It is therefore fitting that Sega has spent the last few weeks honoring the special speedster day with new Sonic announcements and cross events.
The latest Sonic-centric celebration comes in the form of a Sonic Symphony Orchestra event, in which the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a variety of the brand’s most iconic songs from its decades of history. Fans who log on can also expect to see “Sonic’s Favorite Rock Band“Crush 40 is taking the stage,” Sega said in a statement. In collaboration with Summer Games Festival 2021, the publisher will host the live musical performances via Sonic official Tic and Youtube channels at 3:00 p.m. PT.
Sega’s decision to devote a special to the music of Sonic the hedgehog looks just brilliant, especially as the music remains an integral part of the property’s long-standing heritage. The celebrations don’t end there either. In September, for example, Sega will release Ultimate sonic colors, a remaster of the exclusive Wii and Nintendo DS. And more news on the new one Sonic The sequel to the game and film will likely surface this year as well.
