Jamie Lee Curtis and Lionsgate to host weekly YouTube movie stream – Boston 25 News



Theaters may be closed due to the coronavirus, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see a movie.

So grab some popcorn and turn off the lights as Lionsgate Films stream one of the company’s YouTube hits for free starting this week, Variety reported.

It’s called “Lionsgate Live! A night at the cinema.

The company will air “The Hunger Games” on Friday starting at 6 p.m. ET.

“Lionsgate Live! Will be hosted by Jamie Lee Curtis. She will be joined by other celebrities, to share movie memories. There will also be interactive aspects such as real-time chats, live tweets and trivia, Deadline reported.

The series will run for the next four weeks, each week bringing in a different classic film, Variety reported.

“The Hunger Games” will be followed by “Dirty Dancing” on April 24, “La La Land” on May 1 and “John Wick” on May 8. This movie will require viewers to register and confirm their age, according to Variety.

Lionsgate will also donate to the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, a group that helps film industry workers affected by the pandemic. Viewers will also be encouraged to donate, Deadline reported.
