While you still can’t catch a concert in town, the music will be flowing at the Fox Theater through its upcoming series, “Live Stream Vaccine: The Entertainment Cure”.
From Friday until November 27, the concert series will feature some of Bakersfield’s most assiduous musical groups.
Local country-blues duo The Appletons, who will kick off the series with musician Jon Ranger, brought the idea to the theater, according to a press release. A total of 15 weeks of performances are planned showcasing local talent and a variety of musical genres.
The series is presented in partnership with 23ABC News, which will broadcast the weekly concerts via its app and its OTT stream available for smartphones, tablets, televisions with internet connection, Roku, Amazon Fire TV Stick or Apple TV.
The local vintage clothing space and boutique label Revolution Vintage will be hosting a digital merchandise table for the event on their website, revolutionVTG.com, with drawings by local artist Chris Borbon.
Viewers will be able to tip bands, who volunteer their time, on the night of their concert, although details were not available at press time. They can also support the entire series and the theater with donations, which can be made to thebakersfieldfox.com.
Additional sponsors for the series or individual concerts are sought. Companies interested in getting involved can email Fox Director Matt Spindler at [email protected]
