  • There are five films in the “Scream” horror franchise so far, and a sixth is in development.
  • You can stream the entire movie series on Paramount Plus with Showtime ($12/month).
  • “Scream” movies can also be rented or purchased from digital retailers like Amazon.

Created by writer Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven, “Scream” is a hugely popular satirical horror franchise. Since its debut in 1996, the film series has become notable for its clever social commentary, meta-humor on horror tropes, and traditional twists.

The “Scream” franchise primarily follows Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) as she and her friends are terrorized by various masked killers in the guise of Ghostface. The first five films focus on Sidney and recurring characters like Dewey Riley (David Arquette) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), though each “Scream” film features new additions to the cast and different Ghostface killers.

If you’re looking to watch the entire “Scream” franchise this Halloween season, you’re in luck. All five movies can be streamed or rented online from multiple services.

Where to Watch “Scream” Movies

You can stream every “Scream” movie with a subscription to the Paramount Plus plan with Showtime ($12/month). The first four films are part of the Paramount Plus lineup while the fifth entry is currently on Showtime. The fourth film is also streaming on Starz ($9/month).

Alternatively, if you don’t want to subscribe to a streaming service, you can rent or buy all the movies in the “Scream” series from digital retailers like Amazon and Vudu.

Will there be a ‘Scream 6’?

Fear not, the iconic “Scream” franchise returns to theaters on March 31, 2023 for the premiere of “Scream 6.” The sequel was greenlit by Paramount shortly after the box office success of “Scream” (2022).

While Neve Campbell won’t be returning as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox is reprising her role as Gale Weathers. Since it’s unconfirmed if David Arquette will return in any capacity as Dewey, Cox is now expected to be the only actor to appear in all of the “Scream” films.

Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding also return from “Scream” (2022).

Is there a “Scream” TV show?

The popularity of the “Scream” film series also spawned a TV show on MTV and VH1. The “Scream” anthology series ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2019. Although inspired by the film franchise and featuring a killer Ghostface in season three, the series has no direct connection to the movies.

You can watch all three seasons of the show “Scream” on Netflix.
