Is The Girl Before based on a book?
Where was The Girl Before filmed? : Is the house on One Folgate Street real?
Pixar Light year is getting closer and closer for its rocket launch debut. The recent trailer revealed new voice actors and a glimpse of the film’s main storylines.
As many already know, the film stars Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Chris Evans) and the story of how he became a space ranger. This toy story prequel teases action, sci-fi and adventure for audiences of all ages.
What is the release date of the movie Lightyear?
Pixar Light year will orbit in theaters on June 17, 2022, pending no COVID-19 related delays. But what about a streaming release? Let’s look at this…
Will Lightyear be released on Disney+?
For now, Light year will not premiere on Disney+ for simultaneous release with theaters. It will be released exclusively in theaters with the possibility of following in the footsteps of other films like Shang Chi and The Eternals possibly streamable. Disney leaned toward a 45-day release window before moving things to Disney+.
This may be due to disappointing viewership numbers and the benefit of direct-to-streaming movie debuts like Soul and Lucas. Both films had dismal performances at the box office.
However, Disney isn’t completely done with sending movies straight to streaming, as the upcoming movie turn red will arrive on Disney+ for its March 11 premiere. This Pixar movie seems like a way to keep content going for the streaming giant, while still having movies premiering in theaters.
With Light years early popularity and the fact that it is a prequel to the already beloved toy story franchise, it may be more strategic to give it a theatrical premiere. The pandemic has undoubtedly presented new hurdles for filmmaking and first films, which continues to have an impact whether we see them in cinemas, on streaming platforms, or both.
Are you going to watch Light year in theaters or wait for its streaming release? As soon as we have an official Disney+ release date, we’ll update this post!
